Another major collection is on the way …

Posted on January 6th, 2010 in News

Hi,

I know I have been missing in action on this website for quite a while as my retail business has been keeping me very busy. At the moment, I’m in the midst of preparing another major collection, so updates on this website will be slower. However, rest assured that I’ll be back with more lovely, angelic & versatile handmade jewelry. So, if you do not want to miss out on owning One of A Kind handmade jewelry, then do add yourself to my mailing list, ok?

Cheers

All I really want for the New Year is …

Posted on December 29th, 2009 in Inspiring Work Spaces, News

a self made work space designed and created by MarthaStewart.com!

This innovative idea uses just 2 normal bookcases attached together on one side by long piano hinges. You can open the 2 bookcases when you want to work and close them when your jewelry work is done. Not only is this work area space saving, it allows all the mess to be hidden (hahaha..just perfect for busy jewelry designers like me, who could not find the time to tidy up the work areas). Isn’t this so versatile?

The best part about this idea is that it’s not costly to create it. You can also play with the colour theme easily. MarthaStewart.com’s choice of colour- pink is so sweet and girlie.  I like it!

Hmmmm, now that I have found the perfect idea, I have to find the time to create it myself (??!!)  Errr… unfortunately, I’m not good with wood works and also don’t have the time to create this. How nice if Ikea could sponsor me 2 set of book cases & someone could help me create it? I would publicise and advertise your carpentry works for free here. Anyone? If so, please email me at jewelryoflav@gmail.com.  Hehehe…I think I’ll probably just dream on about it :) But hey, everyone needs a dream to be motivated, isn’t it?

Have a Happy New Year ahead filled with plenty of lovely thoughts and wonderful dreams!

All I want for the New Year is an inspiring work space III

Posted on December 28th, 2009 in Inspiring Work Spaces, News

Once I have started to look at beautiful and inspiring work spaces that could help me create lovelier, more angelic and versatile jewelry, I could not stop searching. Look at more of the inspiring work areas I’ve found.

This series feature a lot of white spaces with just a little touch of colour. Each of the photos gives me a very peaceful and serene feel but I wonder how long I can keep the spaces so clean, neat and white, given the massive amount of beads, charms and chains I’ve accumulated over these years :)

All I want for the New Year is an inspiring work space II

Posted on December 27th, 2009 in Inspiring Work Spaces, News

If you find colourful work spaces too distracting, perhaps you would like neutral or pastel warm colours for your work space. Here’s some cosy work areas I found that could make my jewelry making process a pleasant and comfortable experience. Don’t you think so? :)

Feather Earrings - the hottest & latest must haves of the season!

Posted on November 24th, 2009 in Earrings, Fashion Tips, News

Feather earrings are everywhere - on celebrities and stars, especially. Singapore ladies may not have caught on this trend yet but it’s really time to update your look and style with some feathers.

Let’s take a look at how hot these feathered blings are.

vanessa-hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens obviously loves her feather earrings and she loves them long, all the way to her shoulders. Long feather earrings do look good on ladies with long tresses.

vanessa-hudgens4

You can look as cute as Vanessa by pairing feather earring with an ethnic style dress.  This bohemian chicness isn’t difficult to replicate, especially if you also have an ethnic style dress.

eva-longoria

How about wearing a pair of green feather earrings with a pink dress to stand out from the crowd? Eva Longoria sure looks gorgeously ‘yummy’ enough for a high tea event. In fact, she was on her way to her restaurant Beso in LA.

The fashion tip here is that you don’t really need to match your earrings to your attire. Sometimes, a little colour contrast in your accessories with what you wear does the trick.

So, what other colours contrast well? Blue and yellow, black and red, black and white, black and orange … In fact, I think black/grey contrasts well with most colours, especially colours with a little shocking hue in them, like black/grey & electric blue/green. Take a look at Ashanti below.

ashanti3

So, if you aren’t really into all those sweet & cute stuff, you’ll like Hip Hop Diva, Ashanti’s style. Her one sided ultra long feather earring looks really hot on her - so rock and so chic!

With so many year end parties & clubbing functions coming up, you can’t go wrong with a pair of long feather earrings. However, you don’t need to restrict yourself to wearing feather earrings to just some special formal events. Put on a pair of peacock earrings plus your favorite jeans with a white or black or green or brown plain T-shirt and you are ready for some retail therapy downtown.

lauren-conrad

See the pretty peacock earring on Lauren Conrad above? She was wearing it while doing her make up for a MTV production. Surely, you’ll be the centre of attraction with a little MTV fashion style as you stroll down Orchard Road with an eye-catching peacock earring.

By the way, I have some lovely pairs of handmade peacock earrings (similar to Lauren Conrad’s) over at my Parkway Parade InQbox. Head down there to enjoy the great Jewelry of Lav sale & grab a pair before they are all sold out.

Anyway, I would say that every fashionista should have at least one feather earring in your accessories collection.  Why not be one of the first few to own Jewelry of Lav handmade feather earrings? These must haves for the season would see you through all your year end festive parties, work functions & dinner events.  A few chic, funky & elegant handmade feather earrings will make their way to my online shop.  Look out for them tomorrow.

Cheers
